The 2026 WRQG service projects are many. Participate in one or all, your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Thaeli B is happily continuing the Pillowcase Project with a “stuffy” for foster/kids experiencing a trauma. Pattern: Pillowcases & stuffies are distributed to local agencies in the 4-county area. The pillowcases are also distributed to agencies that serve adult women, grown boys and occasionally men, so adult themed pillowcases are also acceptable and don’t need a stuffie. If you can’t get stuffies, no worries, we’ll pair them with one.
Laurie C knows quilters are Caring and Compassionate. This project works with Compassion for Chemo 906. Your compassion tote bags, and/or donation of needed supplies to fill the bag, help support cancer patients receiving care in the 906 area. Bags go to both men and women. A good size is 15-17″ x 12-15″ x 3-5″.
Compassion for Chemo 906 also accepts these new & unused items: blankets, non-metal water bottles, journals/activity books, pens, new socks, fingerless gloves, warm hats, handwritten notes of encouragement, stationary, deck of cards or card games, water flavorings with electrolytes, healthy energy snacks, restaurant gift card, and any other items you may think would lift the spirits of someone receiving chemo! Teri S is heading up the guild’s Quilts of Valor block of the year initiative: You can make one block, several blocks, or an entire quilt top, in red, white, and blue. The 2026 block is “Echoes” (any of 6 variations). The guidelines and instructions are available at www.qovf.org/national-block-
Rick D leads the Love Quilt Project (LQP) again this year. The quilts feature center squares of child’s artwork, provided by LQP, with your log cabin framing. Directions are provided for assembling the blocks. Contact Rick D – he coordinates the order for the center blocks.
“LQP support the specific educational and emotional needs of at-risk children living in foster care in South Africa and the United States. Along with the donations for their educational needs, we also engage with children in both countries to create art squares containing messages of compassion, kindness, and love for children facing the challenges of foster care. These messages are stitched into beautiful handmade quilts and then given to each child we help.”

The 2025 WRQG service project was two-fold: a monthly food drive, to be distributed among area food pantries, and a pillowcase with a small “stuffy” for foster/kids in trauma (fire, etc). More than 75 Pillowcases & stuffies were made and are being distributed to local agencies! Well done, Quilters!
2025 Guild Quilt Project: Castles in Spain blocks. Spring colors and patterns are featured in this “uneven 9 patch block of squares, HST and QSTs.” The completed quilts will be used for a fundraiser during 2025.

Sparrows Stitch-a-long: The Sparrows sew along took flight on January 24, 2023.
Ohio Star: More than 75 blocks have been collected and were made into quilts which were Silent Auctioned at the Guild’s Quilt Show September 2023.
Fidget Quilts: 10 fidget quilts were collected during January 2023. The fidget quilts were shared with area nursing homes.
Quilts of Love: For those in AODA treatment, Veterans, Cancer & Pediatric patients, Project Linus, Refugees, and others. (Sheri or Karen)
